Discover Secret

Walking into Secret for the first time felt like stumbling onto something locals quietly protect. Tucked along 6541 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States, this diner doesn’t shout for attention, yet it stays busy from late mornings through after-hours dinners. I first stopped in after a long shoot nearby, drawn by the smell of grilled onions and fresh coffee drifting onto the sidewalk. That visit turned into a habit, and habits, in this city, mean something is done right.

The menu reads like a love letter to comfort food with a twist. Think classic diner staples, but refined through careful sourcing and real kitchen discipline. Their all-day breakfast became my go-to during early production weeks. Eggs are cooked with consistency, not guesswork, and the potatoes come out crisp without being greasy. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, diners that focus on ingredient quality see higher repeat visits, and it shows here in how often familiar faces come back for the same plates.

What impressed me most is the process behind the scenes. A server once explained how the kitchen preps sauces in small batches daily to keep flavors balanced. That attention mirrors methods recommended by the American Culinary Federation, which emphasizes freshness and controlled prep as key markers of professional kitchens. You taste it immediately in their burgers, where the seasoning never overpowers the beef, and in the soups that rotate based on what’s available locally that week.

Reviews around Hollywood can be exaggerated, but scrolling through recent feedback, the consistency stands out. Diners mention quick service during lunch rush, fair pricing for the location, and staff who remember orders. On one visit, after mentioning a mild dairy sensitivity, the server walked me through alternative options without hesitation. Transparency like that builds trust, especially as the CDC continues to stress clear food-allergen communication in public dining spaces.

The vibe is relaxed, informal, and welcoming without trying too hard. Music hums softly, tables are spaced comfortably, and you can actually hold a conversation. It’s the kind of place writers, tourists, and night-shift workers share without friction. Locations along Hollywood Boulevard can feel rushed, but here, meals arrive at a steady pace, allowing you to slow down, even if just for 30 minutes.

A real example of their reliability showed up during a private group lunch I helped organize for a small crew. We pre-ordered a mix of sandwiches, salads, and hot plates. Everything arrived labeled, warm, and on time. No missing items, no confusion. That kind of operational clarity doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the result of systems that work in real life, not just on paper.

There are limits, and it’s fair to mention them. Parking can be tight during peak evening hours, and the space fills up quickly on weekends. Still, most regulars adjust by coming slightly earlier or later, which says a lot about perceived value. In an area crowded with flashy concepts, this diner thrives on doing the basics extremely well.

The word hidden favorite gets thrown around too easily in Los Angeles dining, but this spot earns it through consistency, care, and quiet confidence. From the menu structure to the service rhythm and the steady stream of honest reviews, everything aligns around a simple idea: feed people well and they’ll come back. That philosophy, backed by experience and thoughtful execution, is what keeps this place relevant on one of the busiest streets in the city.

  • Thank you to the greeter who help lure me into this amazing restaurant. Where they had the best MOZZARELLA STICKS…the batter on these nice cheesy gooey mozzarella sticks was all I needed for an appetizer! Now the wings. Sweet Chili wings Wasn’t sweet at all A+ -No kick but Spicy to survive without taking a sip to drink. Season welled and fried to perfection. Ummm but the other ones have an advantage over them!

  • We just landed in LA and my sister's and I were aimlessly looking for the Hard Rock Cafe, took a few wrong turns when suddenly, this tall guy dressed in all black, pulled my arm and asked us to come inside. He gave us a menu to review so we decided to check it out. Babeeee! The food did not disappoint! My sister ordered garlic parmesean chicken wings that were so good, we went back the next day before we went to a surprise birthday party, you know, just in case the food wasn't good we would have our own stash lol! I ordered a BLT on sourdough with avocado. Another banger! I've been trying to find that taste ever since I got back to MD to no avail. I think they make their own bread and the food gods sprinkled an extra blessing in the dough! Let's not forget the drinks and hookahs! The margaritas were stepped on (double shots), or maybe not! I'm not a drinker so anything feels like it's been stepped on lol! It was also my first time smoking hookahs. The drinks along with the hookahs definitely relaxed me as I was still a little edgy from my 6 hour flight. Finally, the hospitality. Everyone from the front door, to the wait staff and even the security was so nice and friendly. Our party started with 3 ppl and as more of our family arrived, the number grew. They were able to switch our tables without complaint and still provided the same level of service for 7 ppl as the did for 3! Don't sleep on the little "hole in the wall" restaurants! They always serve the best food and display the best hospitality. We will definitely be back when we return in June! Pics were stolen from my sisters phone because I left my phone in my lyft. It was returned the next morning.

  • Our bartender Chris was super fun! He engaged with us, and he even made me a fun drink that was really good! I had a burger and waffle fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was juicy and good! My friend and I had a good time! It was pretty empty when we went around 7pm, but that’s how I prefer it!

  • I do this at the last minute, but this place is great. It's a bit pricey but totally worth the venture . To be honest, I did not have high expectations but totally exceeded them.

  • Stopped here while checking out Hollywood Blvd. I shared the falafel plate with my friend. I thought the falafel and hummus were really great. My mom seemed to enjoy her turkey panini. Overall it was an ok experience, the guy cleared our drinks without seeing if we were done which is annoying but not the end all be all.
